ETH Zurich supports excellent students wishing to pursue a Master’s degree at ETH with two scholarship programs. The Excellence Scholarship & Opportunity Program (ESOP) supports students with a scholarship, mentorship, and a network of the ETH Foundation. The scholarship covers the full study and living costs during the Master’s degree course. The Master Scholarship Program (MSP) contains a partial stipend as well as additional offers by the Department (assistantship or additional scholarship). ETH Zurich is known for its excellent education it provides. Its pioneering fundamental research and for the way its new findings are transferred directly into practical applications. The Master’s programs at ETH Zurich provide in-depth and/or specialist knowledge that qualifies students for a profession. Research is an integral part of the course. At Master’s level, ETH Zurich provides a stimulating and international environment for its students that prepares them perfectly for their future employment or for a doctorate. Many courses offer students the opportunity to spend several months on work placement outside ETH Zurich in addition to lectures and practical.

What You Need To Know About This ETH Zurich International Masters Scholarship

Like any form of education, studying at ETH Zurich costs money. In addition to tuition fees and semester fees amounting to CHF 649, most importantly there are living costs to consider too. It is estimated that students spend CHF 16,000 to CHF 26,000 on study and living costs each year. It is primarily the responsibility of students and their families to finance studies. Nonetheless, there are scholarship opportunities for students to benefit from.

LEVEL / FIELD OF STUDY:

The scholarship available for  Masters taught Degree Programmes offered by the University. If you are already enrolled in a Master’s degree program at ETH Zurich, you are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.

HOST NATIONALITY:

ELIGIBLE NATIONALITY:

The scholarship is open to both National and International students that want to pursue their master’s study in Switzerland.

 Scholarship Benefits: 

The Excellence Scholarship consists of a grant covering living and study expenses (CHF 11,000 per semester) as well as a tuition fee waiver. The scholarship begins when the student commences his or her Master’s degree and is awarded for the regular duration of the Master’s program (three or four semesters). It is awarded independently of the scholarship holder’s financial situation.The Master Scholarship consists of a partial stipend for living and study expenses (CHF 6,000 per semester) as well as a tuition fee waiver. The department can additionally provide a scholarship of CHF 1,500 – 3,000 per semester or offer an assistantship from the second semester onwards (with a payment of CHF 600 per month).

ETH Zurich International Masters Scholarships Eligibility:

A very good result in their Bachelor’s. Students must belong to the best 10 percent of their Bachelor’s programme. The scholarship programmes are open to excellent students (national and international) wishing to pursue their Master’s degree at ETH Zurich. The prerequisite is a very good result in their Bachelor’ (top 10% of Bachelor’s programme = grade A).

How to Apply: 

You can only apply for an Excellence Scholarship & Opportunity Programme or a Master Scholarship Programme if you, at the same time, apply for a Master’s degree programme at ETH Zurich (or if you, as an ETH Bachelor student, continue with a consecutive Master’s degree programme). If you are already enrolled in a Master’s degree program at ETH Zurich, you are not eligible to apply for this scholarship anymore.  Application documents

The pre-proposal for the Master’s thesis must be developed by yourself using established scientific citation practice. Plagiarism, negligent or intentional misinformation will lead to exclusion from the admission process or – if discovered later – to the revocation of the admission and of any scholarship. If you are applying for more than one Master’s program, please submit a separate application form for each degree program.

Selection

The applications are evaluated by the Admissions Committees of the respective Master’s program. The final decision for awarding scholarships in the Excellence Scholarship & Opportunity Programme and in the Master Scholarship Programme rests with the Rector of the ETH. The number of annual scholarships depends on the availability of funds. The decisions are communicated approx. mid of March.
